Puma knives are German made and known for their high quality and craftsmanship.  They began their long and storied history in 1769 when Johann Wilhelm Lauterjung registered the Puma trademark and began making knives soon after.  The knife making enterprise was moved to the cutlery center of Solingen, Germany in 1855 and began making pocket knives and other hunting knives.  The famous White Hunter knife is introduced in 1956 and the Military Series in introduced in 1964.  Some of the most sought after folding knife patterns include the Jagdmesser, Original Bowie, Emperor, Prince, Duke, Star, Medici and Universal.  Collectors are always looking for vintage puma knives with genuine stag handles such as the Waidblatt, Big Bowie and the White Hunter.  Their website has a place where you can enter the serial number and it will tell you the age of the knife.  Check out Ruana and Bob Loveless knives too!
